New Lighting Project
The electrical lighting in the Church is in urgent need of replacement and a plan has been drawn up to light the Church building for the benefit of the congregation and other users of the building. Not only will this provide practical lighting for worship and events but will also enhance the wonderful architectural features of the building.

The Becket Chapel Windows
The four windows in the North wall of the Becket Chapel contain glass dating from c.1510. Since then the glass has been subjected to at least 3 severe storms (1757, 1763 & 1814) as well as some vandalism (politically motivated?). On top of this it has suffered from 500 years of weathering outside, condensation inside, plus years of general dirt including smoke from lamps and candles. The acid effect of this has pitted the glass and there are areas of manganese browning. Painted surfaces have faded or completely flaked off. The external ‘ferramenta’ (or supporting metalwork) is very rusty and needs repair and repainting. Separate repairs are also needed for the stonework. Conservation followed by Isothermal glazing will be carried out during 2018, with approximately three months being taken for each window. This work is being undertaken by Chapel Studios of Kings Langley, and the stonework by Restoration Masons from Chelmsford.
